LIES ARE LAME WITH NO LEGS
“Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.” (Ephesians 4: 25).
Lie is cancerous and contagious. It has the possibility of multiplying itself to cover up its falsehood in order to appear like the truth. Youths who keep company with liars turn out to be liars themselves. Lie spreads quickly and spontaneously in the camp of liars. The liar knows that he is telling lie when his hearer does not know. Lie is lame; but requires more lies to support it.
Lie describes a false statement that is deliberately made to paint a picture of sincerity. It is falsification of facts, giving of false impression and the description of a false appearance. Simply put, lie is a deception or deceit in a practical or verbal sense. Most often, lie is short-lived. It cannot stand the test of time. It is lame and handicapped. It cannot withstand the truth.
Do not try to fabricate lie. You will need many crutches of fallacies to make your lie to stand like the truth. It is better to speak the truth and die rather than live as a liar. It is often said that lie cannot go a long distance before the truth will overtake it. Lie does more havoc to anyone than good. A single lie will prick your heart and pierce your conscience. It will paint you black as spreading falsehood and a deliberate deceiver. The liar knows he is not sincere. Other people may not know that he is a liar but he does. The liar may prevail for a time but his lie will not withstand the truth at the end of the day.
Challenge: Speak the truth and let the devil be ashamed.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to speak the truth at all times in my life.
