THE BLESSEDNESS OF HAVING GODLY FRIENDS
“And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favor in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake.” Genesis 30:27.
Laban was not really a God fearing man. But he had fourteen years relationship with Jacob the anointed man; to continue the fulfillment of the covenant that God made with Abraham. At the end of the fourteenth year Jacob decided that he wanted to return to Canaan. Laban did not want him to return and he did not hide his feelings. He said he was sure that it was Jacob that brought God's blessings that he had been enjoying into his life. Do not forget this secret too. Godly people can bring a lot of blessing into your life when you associate with them.
All of us are easily influenced by our friends. Just as evil companions can corrupt us so can godly people bless us. It is the duty of every boy and girl reading this book today to decide to associate with godly people so that our lives too will be positively influenced. David walked with Jonathan, he gained the throne but Amnon walked with Jonadab and died prematurely. The role of our close friends cannot be underestimated.
As you go out today, make up your mind to walk with the wise. No one can force himself or herself into your life until you allow the person. You will be a very wise person indeed if you allow god fearing people to be your friends. They will only bring blessing to you and you will never regret knowing them. Like Laban, you too will be a happy person for walking with blessed children of God.
Challenge: Show me your friend, and I will tell you who you are. Prayer: Please, help me Lord to walk with wise and godly students today.
