YOU CAN LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS

“Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.” (2 Kings 4:1).

It is possible to live a fulfilling life without going into debt. It is important for you as a young boy or girl to understand basic lessons about money so that you can be financially free even as a student. Read the verse above and learn. The man who died in debt was one of the sons of the prophets. He not only died in debt, but he created serious financial hardship for his wife and children.

Here are some tips you can use to save money so that you will not always be in need. (i) Pay your tithe every month and every time you receive your pocket money. (ii) Trek, instead of taking okada or taxi for every journey you have to make. (iii) Always use the appropriate dresses for sports. Do not use your school uniforms for physical games. Same with your school footwear. The neater you look the more respect you will command among your classmates and teachers. (iv) Drink water instead of soft drinks. Water is cheaper and better for you. (v) Buy fruits instead of pastry or biscuits. (vi) Do not buy anything on credit. You can live with less than what you have now so if there is no money, then don't spend. (vii) Open a savings account in the bank and keep the money you don't want to spend there. (viii) Make a budget for what you want to buy and stick to it. (ix) Stay home more. When you stay home you spend less money. (x) As much as possible don't eat out. Pack your lunch to school and learn to be satisfied with it.

You can live in financial blessing as you trust God to meet your needs. Your life will be a success story in Jesus name.

Challenge: Live within your means or you will leave without your means.
Prayer: Dear Father, please help me to be a financially disciplined person today and for the rest of my life.
