ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD
And Joseph’s master took him and put him in the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison Genesis 39:20

Before Joseph got to the prison, he had experienced a lot of “misfortunes”. He was a privileged son of a famous patriarch, Jacob. He was the most beloved of his father. He had a special robe made for him. But he could not enjoy these privileges too long. He came from a polygamous family where rivalries showed up early enough between Leah and Rachael. Unfortunately his mother died early, during child birth. As if all these were not enough, a chain of other misfortunes followed: he was hated by his brothers to the extent of wanting to kill him. He was eventually sold into slavery and ended up in Potiphar’s house God began to bless him there but before he could breathe a sigh of relief another calamity was lurking around the corner.

Potiphar’s wife came with her seductive appeals which Joseph rebuffed. False accusation followed despite his righteous stand. He was eventually thrown into prison without trial. Talk of unjust treatment, Joseph suffered it in full measure. Up to this point, with all that happened to Joseph, one would have wondered if it was still proper to maintain a righteous stand. The answer is YES. In fact that was what Joseph did. Even in the prison, he never shrank from his righteous convictions; he displayed such qualities as made him to be trusted with a responsibility.

He was later recommended to interpret Pharaoh’s dream. It is interesting to note that the man who recommended him met him in prison. His brother’s hatred ushered Joseph into slavery and imprisonment. But from the prison he ascended to the throne. Now with the benefit of hindsight, we can see that all what happened to Joseph were working for his good.

Are you a child of God? What are you passing through today? Maintain your devotion to God. Do not lose your confidence in Him. And make sure you are not suffering as a result of disobedience to God. You will soon experience your deliverance and promotion.

Challenge: Winners do not quit and quitters do not win.
Prayer: Dear Lord help me to keep looking unto you and not on my problems.
