GENTLE GIANTS

“But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children.”
(I Thessalonians 2:7).

Apostle Paul was a spiritual giant. He alone wrote almost half of all the books in the New Testament. He was a man God used mightily in the work of the gospel. This great man of God was however also gentle. In his own words expressed above, he said that he was gentle as a nurse is gentle to little children.

As you go out today, you must be gentle in words. Children of God should not be noisy and aggressive in the way they talk. Talk gently in such a way that people will be happy to talk to and hear you. You must be gentle in your behaviour with people. Some people are given to playfulness and excessive display of emotions. When they are working or playing you will always know they are around before you see them for they cannot but beat somebody, push them around or drag chairs or table noisily. Don’t be like those people and if you’ve been like that, stop it. Don’t do that anymore. You must be gentle in all you do.

Lastly be gentle at home and be gentle in church. Be gentle in school and be gentle all around. Let this day be a day when by the grace of God you too, like Paul will be known for gentleness.

Challenge:                  Be gentle: empty barrels make the loudest noise
Prayer:                        Help me O Lord to be a gentle Christian in all I do today.
