FOLLOWING AND FULFILLING WHAT WAS WRITTEN OF CHRIST

Hebrews 10:7; Exodus 17:13-14; 2 Samuel 7:12-13; 1 Kings 13:1-2; Isaiah 44:28; 45:1-4; Jeremiah 1:5; Acts 9:15,16; Luke 22:37; 24:44; 1 Peter 2:21

“Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God” (Hebrew 10:7). As you look at the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, His life, death, resurrection, ascension and exaltation, everything concerning Him was not something that just happened, but well planned and written before hand; nothing happened by accident. He knew and fulfilled everything that was written concerning Him. God is a Master Planner. As the life of Jesus Christ was well planned out, your own life is planned out by God. Not just Jesus Christ alone, think about Joshua, Solomon, Josiah, Cyrus, Jeremiah, Paul the Apostle and many others before they came onto the scene, it was written of them. Then you can tell about yourself, your life is not an accident but well planned out by God and well written by Him. Somebody is going to fulfil what was written concerning him before he was born! Your life will not be disorganised and confused, it has been well planned out by God. It will be a happy and purposeful life in Jesus Name. Since God has marked, structured and brought you into His Kingdom and church for His purpose, you will fulfil that purpose in Jesus Name. God had His plan for His only Begotten Son, and has for all His sons and daughters. Christ and all true believers before us knew that their lives on earth were not by accident, and they followed and did what was written concerning them by God personally, purposefully, prayerfully, promptly, pleasantly, passionately, perseveringly, progressively, primarily, peculiarly, privately and publicly. “For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end” (Luke 22:37). Things written concerning anyone have a goal, destination, purpose and destiny. All things must be fulfilled which were written concerning Me (Luke 24:44). As Christ discovered and walked in what was written concerning Him, we as Christians should discover and walk in His steps accomplishing the things God has written concerning us..

3 points:

Point 1. PURPOSEFULLY FULFILLING WHAT WAS WRITTEN CONCERNING CHRIST

 Isaiah 50:5-7; Luke 9:51; 4:17-21; 18:31-33; 21:22; Psalms 22:1,7,8,16,18,27-28; John 19:30

As you compare that verse in Luke 9:51 with Isaiah 50:5-7, Christ steadfastly and purposefully set His face in the right direction. You will face the right direction in life, and at the end of your life you will be happy, having fulfilled what you should have done. “…And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written” (Luke 4:17). He knew what was written concerning Him, and He fulfilled them. You will find out what was written concerning you and fulfil them. You will begin to live a purposeful life from this day. Christ knew that all things written concerning Him shall be accomplished, so He did not have anxiety, high blood pressure or depression (Luke 18:31). All things that were written concerning you in the record of Heaven are the only things that will happen and be fulfilled in your life. All the plans of the devil and his cohorts will not happen; you will not be finished but you will finish the will of God and all that was written concerning you. The grace of God will see you through. Jesus knew that the Cross was not the end, the Crown was coming. “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost” (John 19:30). Christ purposefully fulfilled all that was written concerning Him. His heart, mind and focus were on what was written, He turned neither to the right hand nor to the left. He pleased the Father perfectly in works and deeds, thoughts and actions, attitudes and comportment, before the Crucifixion and on the Cross: in all things all through His earthly life, He lived to fulfil what was written concerning Him, and He has left that example for you as well. He is our Perfect Example

Point 2: PASSIONATELY FOLLOWING WHAT WAS WRITTEN CONCERNING THE CALLED

1 Peter 2:21; Romans 1:6,7; 8:28-29; 15:4; 12:17-21; 1 Peter 1:14-16

Christians are referred to as the ‘called’, and we are to passionately follow what was written concerning the called. You have been called of God to repentance, salvation, sanctification, a place in the Kingdom, and your place in that Kingdom will not be empty in Jesus Name. Christ discovered and followed what was written concerning Him, so you must find out what was written concerning the Christian, and purposefully and passionately follow and fulfill them. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). All things will work together for good in your life as you respond to His call. He is watching over you. You are to be conformed to the image of His Son, and as He fulfilled the Will of God, so you will fulfil all that was written concerning you. All things written in the Bible are for our learning and comfort. “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope” (Romans 15:4). It is written concerning you that you recompense to no man evil for evil; vengeance is not written concerning you; that is God’s work. He will fight your battle for you, so don’t fight a useless fight that will bring premature death and don’t waste your resources (Romans 12:17-21). No adversary will hinder your progress, you will accomplish all God’s purposes. You are to be holy and righteous because that is what is written concerning you (1 Peter 1:14-16). From this day, the path of victory is before you, and that which was written concerning you will be visible in your life in Jesus Name.

Point 3: PERSONALLY FINDING WHAT WAS WRITTEN OF THE CONQUEROR

Luke 4:17; Romans 8:37; 6:11-12,14; Matthew 18:18; Luke 10:17-20; John 8:11; Romans 16:20

“And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written” (Luke 4:17. Jesus found the place where things were written concerning Him. If you are going to be a conqueror, you must personally find out what is written concerning conquerors (Romans 8:37).  In the case of David before he defeated Goliath in 1 Samuel chapter 17, far back in chapter 13 even before he came on the scene, God said that He had found a man more righteous than Saul the king. The Lord today He has found you and nobody will take your place. If you are not saved, He brought you today for your salvation and you will begin to purposefully fulfil your destiny in Jesus Name. Conqueror you are, you will conquer sin. “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace” (Romans 6:14). You are going to have victory as a conqueror over sickness and evil spirits. You have been called for a purpose, and sickness will not cut short your life, you will finish and fulfill everything written concerning you, and you will enter triumphantly and gloriously into Heaven in Jesus Name.

Why do you have a book and you never read it, why do you have authority and you never use it? Why is something being given to you and written concerning you, and you never do it in particular. “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 18:18).  Joy in your soul, spirit, home, family, offices, and on your paths, you will return with joy; Poison, accident and disaster will not kill you, and nothing that is not meant for you will come your way in Jesus Name. Attacks, demons and evil spirits are not meant for you, and they will not come near you in Jesus Name (Luke 10:17-20). The court, enemies, religious people and Pharisees will not condemn you. Jesus will not answer your accusers, He has made up His mind that you will be forgiven (John 8:11). Forgiveness, salvation, has come to everyone. Go and sin no more, this is written concerning you. The power of sin is broken from your life in Jesus Name. Grace to conquer, and to overcome go with you in Jesus Name (Romans 16:20).

We have learnt that Christ did not die on the Cross to make us weaklings, slaves or captives. The written word was not given to keep us down, to make us less than the ordinary graceless people, we will be stronger than all of them. It is written that you will be a conqueror, an overcomer, a victor, a master; and we are called to overcome and conqueror. We are called, converted and commissioned to conquer. You will conquer sin, sickness, all the strongholds, evil spirts, self, self-centeredness, shadows, superstitions, strangers, short-sightedness, slavery and servitude.

“And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written” (Luke 4:17). As Christ found the place, you are to:

  1. Find your Place – don’t just be here and there;
  2. Find your Promise – there are promises waiting for you to claim;
  3. Find the Power – to accomplish and do everything that God has ordained;
  4. Find your Passion – don’t just live like a walking corpse;
  5. Find your Purpose – there is a reason you came to the Kingdom and you are born again;
  6. Find your Path – that leads to victory and an overcoming life;
  7. Find your Priority – something to concentrate on and do it;
  8. Find your Peak – the height of your purpose and aim at it.

This is your day, go and fulfil your purpose for living as Christ did.

Ponder on this!
