Topic – THE FAITH OF THE REDEEMED IN THE REDEEMER
Text – Job 19:25; Galatians 3:13-14; 2 Corinthians 2:13-18
“For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth” (Job 19:25). Job said, ‘for I know’. There are people that go through life and know nothing about the Redeemer, Saviour and their Deliverer. But Job said problems and sorrow will not drown or destroy his life because he knew that his Redeemer lives. Many people when they look at this verse concentrate only on the future, he shall stand at the latter day, and because of that latter-day expectation miss the present ministry, power and solution that the Redeemer gives us today – “For I know that my redeemer liveth,” What has He delivered us from? We need to emphasise the present privilege so that we will be well prepared for the future still coming. Christ lives because He died for us and rose again and because He rose again, He has now given us total redemption. “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith” (Galatians 3:13-14). {Make this personal – Christ has redeemed me ….} We must think of what He has done in the past; what He’s doing in the present and He what He is going to do in the future: We don’t think of the future in a way that will make us to forget the past – Calvary, the present – conquering and the future that will come, the coronation. Through faith, we think of what the Saviour and Redeemer has done, our privileges and what we have as a result. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law. If you understand and believe that you have a Redeemer and that He is alive today, then speak, “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak” (2 Corinthians 4:13). The Old Testament saints had the spirit, acts, might, attitude, trust, and power of faith working in them. And if you really have that spirit of faith, you will speak, declare and proclaim according to the faith that you have as a redeemed soul. All things are for our sakes, His sacrifice, goodness, promises, provisions of Calvary are for our sakes. We do not faint, for the Lord will renew your life, body and everything concerning you today and will bless your soul. (2 Corinthians 4:15-16). “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18). It is the things we see, what we think and feel that discourage us and make us forget our Redeemer, what He has done for us and what we have as we are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
3 points:
Point 1. LOOKING UNTO THE REDEEMER: SAY I KNOW
Job 19:25,19; 42:2; Psalms 140:12-13; 56:9-11; Joshua 2:9; 2 Timothy 1:12
At every point, in every situation of life and at cross-roads, look unto the Redeemer and say, I know. When things appear confusing or the pressure is on you, don’t look at the problems, but only look to the Redeemer. “I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee” (Job 42:2). Say, tell, affirm and confirm what you know and (i) let what you know displace what you don’t know; (ii) Let Who you know replace who you don’t know. Don’t be bothered. (iii) Let revelation dispel ignorance. For I know that He is my Saviour, Reformer, Revival, Purifier, Miracle Worker, Refiner, Deliverer, Sanctifier, Baptiser and Coming King; (iv) Let faith destroy all fear; (v) Let truth destroy tradition; allow what you know to destroy ignorance. (vi) Let saints rise above sinners by what they know. Don’t even think of their insinuations; (vii) Let Scriptures cancel superstitions. (viii) Let His promises cancel all problems; they are temporary; (ix) Let life drive away death and his messengers – sickness, demons, attacks, and afflictions. Rebuke them. (x) Let your new state and new standing in Christ conquer sin, sickness and even Satan himself. All that you have been hearing and known are enough to make you conquer them. (xi) Let not Eliphaz depress you with his words without knowledge. Let all the you know bring a barrier between you. (xii) Let not Bildad distress you; (xiii) Let not Zophar depress; nor Elihu dismiss you. (xv) Let not friends discourage you. Push aside all that they have said and declare, I KNOW; (xvi) Let not foes or enemies damn your soul. (xvii) Let no one determine your destiny. (xix) Let no stranger damn your soul or strain your relationship with God; Know that your Redeemer will take you out of that dungeon to the mountain top.
“All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me” (Job 19:19). Don’t stop there, where friends and loved ones have rejected you, for there is verse 25 ahead of you, “For I know that my redeemer liveth,” Our Redeemer does not change, and He will stand by your side, take away the problem, will dry up that river that wants to drown you; and all those enemies that are trying to run after you, He will make them lose motion and speed, and they will stop right there. So, don’t talk about what you don’t, say what you know, and the Lord will pull you through. “I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor” (Psalms 140:12). For I know that God, my Redeemer, Creator, and One that moves every mountain is for me. “In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me” (Psalms 56:11). Pharaoh will perish if he tries to pursue you. Nebuchadnezzar will go to the forest and eat grass if he tries to oppress you. Herod will die and be eaten of worms if he tries to lay hands on you. This I know. “……. for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” (2 Timothy 1:12b) You will not be afraid what man can do unto you; the Lord will uphold us. What you know will work for you in Jesus’ Name.
Point 2. LIBERATED: LET THE REDEEMED OF THE LORD SAY SO
Psalms 107:2; 2 Corinthians 4:13; Exodus 15:13,18,26; Isaiah 43:1-2,18-19; Jeremiah 15:20,21; 31:11; Luke 1:68-75; Titus 2:11-14; Galatians 3:13-14; 4:4; 1 Peter 1:18-23; Revelations 1:5-7; 5:9-10; Mark 11:22-24
Liberated, saved, delivered, rescued and restored from everything that bound you before; if that is so, according to the word of God, “Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy” (Psalms 107:2). If you are redeemed from the curse of the law, say so in prayer, faith, testimonies, to yourself, with re-assurance and confession before Goliath, and your Goliaths will fall. Are you redeemed from bondage of sin, captivity of Satan, curse of the law, past condemnations, future damnation, then say so. Let not the noise of the waves drown your voice of faith, say what you know that you have been redeemed from, say so loudly. Don’t allow the noise of the society to drown your confidence and faith of redemption. You will say, I am redeemed, saved, healed, and an overcomer. Don’t repeat what they say nor their proverbs for you are different. The Lord will continue to guide and lead you till you get to Heaven (Exodus 15:13). “The LORD shall reign for ever and ever” (Exodus 15:18). He will reign in your life, and Satan shall not rule in your life and heart. God and Satan cannot sit on the same throne. God is on the throne of your heart, life and family, so Satan cannot sit there. You will say what you know, “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee” (Exodus 15:26). Let the redeemed say so, He will not put the diseases of the Egyptians upon you. You don’t belong to Satan, he will not rush you into hell, his final home, for you belong to Jesus, and He will be with you, say so. “But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee” (Isaiah 43:1-2). “And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible” (Jeremiah 15:21). Mr Terrible in his anger will not touch your life, for you are redeemed. The Lord has redeemed you out of the hands all those enemies stronger than you, they will not overcome you in Jesus’ Name (Jeremiah 31:11). Whether friends visit you or not, what you say is what you are going to possess. “That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life” (Luke 1:74-75). Any temptation that is above you, wants to destroy, damn and kill your soul before you get into heaven, will not come to you. You will serve God without fear all the days of your life. You are redeemed. “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works” (Titus 2:14). For your life, stature, standing, position are peculiar, and when Satan ever comes around, he will see a peculiar redeemed soul and he will not touch you. The Lord has redeemed you already from the curse of the law, and for this He died. (Galatians 3:13). He is now seated on the right hand of God on the throne. The blessings of Abraham will come upon you; you have the promise of the Spirit through faith and you possess everything that the Redeemer has paid for. Your soul is saved, your life is protected, and you will reign on earth with the Lord your Redeemer in Jesus’ Name. “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18,19). You will reign on the earth, let the liberated say so. Have faith in your Redeemer What you say, you will have; and what you don’t say, you will not have. (Mark 11:22-24).
Point 3. LIVING IN THE FULNESS OF HIS REDEMPTION: LEARN TO SAY NO
Isaiah 54:17; Numbers 23:23; Psalms 91:10-16; 105:13-15; Acts 18:9-10; 27:25
Living in the fact and expectation of full redemption, learn to say, No. There are things that will come, not from the Redeemer, so the redeemed should say, no. The world will throw things at you that you don’t deserve or merit. Christ has lifted you up and you are seated in high places as the redeemed of the Lord; learn to say, No. Don’t say Yes to the devil, evil enchantments, and afflictions. Reject all the offers from the world. As you say no, all those things will leave and not bother you again. You have the final say as the redeemed of the Lord. No weapon fashioned against you will prosper. “Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!” (Numbers 23:23). There is no magic, occultism or evil power against your life. When something comes from the power of darkness, and enemies want to ground you, you will say, No! “There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling” (Psalms 91:10). No evil will come upon you; God will satisfy you with long life. He will not allow any man to do you wrong saying, Touch not my anointed, do my prophet no harm. God’s anointing on you will neutralize every evil fashioned against you in Jesus’ name. (Psalm 105:13-15) Your No is No in heaven, and your Yes is Yes, and no one shall hurt you. “Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city” (Acts 18:9-10). Our Redeemer has conquered for us, for He has paid the full price of our redemption, and we are free. Now you can say No to the old usurper, old master oppressor, enchantment, any weapon of destruction, evil, yoke, occultic power, torment, and torture of the devil. We say No to sin, the flesh, world. We are waiting for the Redeemer to come, and when He comes, He will find faith in us and as overcomers, He will take us to our home in heaven in Jesus’ Name. “Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.” (Acts 27:25) Let the redeemed say so: quote the promises of God, Declare His Word. Say No, to evil, plaques and sin and God will give you the victory. For I know that my Redeemer lives! Now that you know, darkness and sickness will clear out of your sight,
Ponder on this! Jesus died to redeem you. He is now seated on the right hand of God on the throne.
